I still remember when I was first invited to an art gallery by an artist friend and my instinctive reaction was a feeling of apprehension. It was a strange feeling as I have always loved art especially paintings, so why the anxiety. I thought that maybe I just love art but not seriously loving it. The time I’ll be spending there can still be used to stroll around the mall, binge for food, have fun outside or maybe just to sleep.

I thought that my appreciation of art is when the art will just brought to me or infront of my eye minus the hassle of still going to a place to see them, much more, to spend money just to see them. It dawned on me that I was not worried about experiencing the paintings but how to react to them, what to say and how to converse about them so as to not look like a complete moron to my friends. I know this is very deep and doesn’t look like me or the AL people have known but trust me, art creates a major impact to my life.

This very unusual problem led me to explore and find a simple and down-to-earth approach to art appreciation. The idea is to demystify the process and make it easy to enjoy art.

So when the opportunity knocked last weekend, I grabbed it. The Art Center at Megamall staged “25th Kulay sa Tubig” exhibit. With Ralf, Jc and Kiko in tow, the art appreciation has been appreciated more.

And what would be best to end the day but with a cup coffee at Starbucks.
